About Harbison Canyon

Harbison Canyon is a rural community and census-designated place (CDP) in El Cajon, California. Residents enjoy peaceful and lush landscape here.

Harbison Canyon is made up of a variety of single family homes with many amenities. Although this area is known historically for its encounters with two devastating wildfires, it is also respected for Old Ironsides Park which is maintained by San Diego County’s Parks and Recreation department. This park features a community center and relics from the Kumeyaay Indian era are often found near the stream that runs through this neighborhood.

 This community is served by the Alpine Union School District and the Grossmont Union High School District. Students may attend facilities like Mountain View Learning Academy as well as highly ranked Shadow Hills Elementary and Granite Hills High School. There are also several private institutions like the Christian Unified Schools, Holy Trinity Catholic School, and St. Kieran Catholic Schools. Nearby colleges include Grossmont, Cuyamaca Collage, and San Diego Christian College.

To the north is the 8 Freeway and across that is Lake Jennings which offers camping for tents or RVs, picnicking, boating, and hiking. This lake has some of the best fishing in the region with 37,000 pounds of channel catfish and trout stocked each year.To the south you’ll find the Sycuan Indian Reservation and the Sycuan Golf Resort which offers two 18-hole championship courses and a luxury hotel.

Residents are close to many shopping centers like Parkway Plaza, Plaza De Las Palmas Shopping Center, and Broadway Plaza. Rancho San Diego Village.

El Cajon is a city in San Diego County that is surrounded by mountains and whose name means “the box” in Spanish.
